TWT celebrates the official opening of NewLife Darling Harbour

Sydney Australia, 27 September 2019: Today TWT celebrates the completion of its exemplarily residential development, NewLife Darling Harbour, with an official opening ceremony and unveiling of a striking new art installation for the local community. The NewLife Darling Harbour precinct comprises of 199 modern apartments across four towers, with ground floor retail and commercial, landscaped rooftops, an organic community garden and stunning views of the Sydney CBD skyline.

The official opening ceremony was attended by the project team and industry experts including Gavin Zhang, Director of TWT Property Group; Michael Harrison, Principal of Architectus; and Tony Touma, Executive Chairman of Parkview, as well as several famous artists including Xia Hang. Gavin Zhang, Director of TWT Property Group said, “We are thrilled to see NewLife Darling Harbour coming to life with the completion of the development and residents set to move in imminently. We take an active role in curating the communities we create, ensuring a diverse range of vibrant communal areas and experiences that bring people together. NewLife Darling Harbour has an organic community garden, public artworks and uniquely designed spaces, such as the communal rooftops, where people can meet, live, work and play.

“We are honoured to unveil a new public artwork, ‘Memory Tree’, by Xia Hang today for residents, the local community and wider Sydney-siders to enjoy. At TWT, we believe experiencing art improves wellbeing and should be part of everyday life, sparking conversations and interactions. Memory Tree is a key element of NewLife Darling Harbour that complements and enhances the surrounding neighbourhood.” TWT has also delivered a new public community laneway at NewLife Darling Harbour linking Harris Street to Bulwara Road, improving pedestrian access to the new apartments and the local neighbourhood. Xia Hang said the artwork creates a grand entrance to the new laneway, “Memory Tree is an intricate, kinetic-lit, eight metre-high ‘tree’ which reflects the site’s history, present and future. I was inspired by my childhood love of early animations such as the Transformers series.”

Award-winning architectural practice, Architectus, designed NewLife Darling Harbour as a lively collection of multi-dimensional buildings with an exceptionally diverse range of living environments that mirror Ultimo’s historic character. Organised around a lush central landscaped courtyard, the design activates and humanises the building’s connection to the surrounding neighbourhood with flexible retail spaces, sympathetic terrace-style living and apartments above. This is complemented by superb landscaped roof terraces and communal facilities, all designed to capitalise on the building’s extraordinary location.

At the nexus of Harris Street and William Henry Street, NewLife Darling Harbour is in the heart of Sydney’s major educational, cultural and commercial hub, making it the ideal location for residents looking to combine work and play. It’s within walking distance to facilities such as the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre, University of Technology Sydney, ABC studios, as well as retail and restaurants at the Darling Harbour foreshore. It’s also in close proximity to a variety of transport connections including the light rail, ferry, bus network and central train station.

TWT worked closely with main works contractor Parkview Group to create the high-quality residential project. Apartments range from studios to three-bedrooms to two-level terraces with direct street access and internal garage access from the basement. NewLife Darling Harbour has sold 70% of released stock in 2016, with one of the four buildings to be owned and managed by TWT ensuring the long-term success of the property. Please contact TWT Property to enquire about buying or leasing an apartment.
