For a third consecutive year, Chinese Contemporary Art Month 2018 will be launched on 13 April. Following the success since its inauguration in 2016, this year’s Chinese Contemporary Art Month seeks to deliver an eclectic mix of Chinese Contemporary Art and continue facilitating constructive communication between Chinese and Australian contemporary artists, collectors, curators and industry professionals.

Chinese Contemporary Art Month 2018 will featuring one main exhibition, two forums and a selected collection of associated exhibitions, including The 5th Walking with Arts Exhibition.

‘Walking With Arts’ exhibitions were created by Hong Tong (Hong Li) beginning with four artist including herself as one of the artists. Walking With Arts is now in its fourth exhibition has grown to include fourteen selected artists.

Hong graduated from the Department of Printmaking at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1984 and is an expert in printmaking. After coming to Australia, she received a master’s degree in fine arts from the University of Sydney in 2007. Hong has both solid painting skills and great creativity. Under the influence of Chinese and Western cultures, Hong has formed her simple, straightforward, simple and strong personal modern creative style. In the past few years, she has held several personal art exhibitions and group exhibitions. Her works have also been exhibited in famous galleries in major cities including Melbourne, Sydney, Beijing and Tianjin. She has held a special exhibition “walking”. In the “Sun and Moon” series, art works are displayed in street-side showcases, allowing rushed pedestrians to appreciate the beauty of art. Her works have been unanimously recognised and praised by the Chinese and Australian art circles, and are deeply loved by Chinese and Australian audiences.

Starting out from the Chinese Contemporary art exhibitions, Hong was instrumental in producing the Chinese Contemporary Art month in collaboration with the China Culture Centre Sydney and Art Nova 100.

The essence of this exhibition, ‘Walking With Arts’, is to take art directly to the public, exhibiting in public and community spaces. The public in their daily lives are able to see works from various artists with different artistic styles adding a unique perspective to the city and lives of the public.

We welcome Hong to the TWT Creative Precinct.
