Architect & Landscaper Ron Powell talks to Alan Jones about the extraction of rare yellow block sandstone from NewLife Pyrmont site.
During the early excavation of TWT’s NewLife Pyrmont project, about 20,000 tons of yellow block sandstone was uncovered. It is an exciting discovery, and one which will be crucial in assisting in the restoration of some of Sydney’s most important historic buildings.
The sandstone will assist in restoring some of the iconic structures of Sydney University’s main building, St. Mary’s Cathedral and Australian Museum of Art, allowing these treasures of Australian architectural history to become immortal legends and continue to be admired by more people.
