Toni McDowell is a painter and printmaker inspired by where she lives and what she sees around her: Sydney’s harbour, bushland and the city’s complex built environment. Working en plein air, the painting takes shape using acrylic, oil, crayon, etching and collage to abstract and develop the image. Her art has been selected as a finalist in the Glover Prize for Landscape Tasmania and the NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting prize. She has also exhibited in a number of galleries in Sydney and regional centres.

Todd Fuller has exhibited annually with Brenda May Gallery since his debut in 2011 at the age of 23, having graduated from Sydney’s National Art School the previous year. His practice integrates sculpture, animation, drawing, performance and painting to construct narratives drawn from empirical experiences, personal or otherwise. William Mansfield is a Sydney based multi-disciplinary visual artist. Pursuing a dynamic experimental DIY aesthetic, Mansfield utilises a broad range of mediums including video, sculpture and installation. Mansfield’s unique practice conflates ideas of schlock horror and glitch art with childhood nostalgia, interrogating notions of torment and the grotesque, with irreverent and kitsch humour. He employs pre-cinematic devices and handmade dioramas to weave together open-ended narratives within his work.

Dale Trueman works across performance, sculpture and electronics. His main focus is on the production of props and devices for use in the performance of magical illusions. Using items that are handcrafted in a bespoke fashion and finished to a high degree. They are practical items for use by a magician but can also be appreciated as stand alone artworks in their own right. As a performing magician himself, Dale can build a magical prop symbiotically with a new routine or tailor one for an existing routine.

Jennifer Reid is a Sydney artist whose main interest has been the human figure and face, primarily in works on paper. She is using her time at the Brand X Arts Incubator to explore new mediums and subjects including painting and images on fabric, cartooning and abstract as well as picture book story and illustration. She continues to be a regular at various life drawing groups and frequently paints and draws au plein air.

Aesha Henderson is an interdisciplinary artist working across sculpture, installation, performance, design for theatre, events and screen specialising in puppets, creative direction and curating. Her work incorporates play, humour, beauty, darkness and the surreal to shift and investigate stories of what we are and what we may become. Aesha works from her studio in the Arts Incubator as part of the TWT Creative Precinct in St Leonards.

Ben Morley tells the story of the city’s development through his painting. Ben completed his Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Fine Art at Leeds Metropolitan University in 2001. After relocating to Chippendale in 2004 he began to document the area’s rapidly changing environment. In 2015 Ben presented a solo exhibition at Carlton Project Space, a pop up gallery in Chippendale. After the exhibition he was contacted by City of Sydney curator, Margaret Betteridge, who purchased five of the exhibited works for the City’s permanent collection.
